Garry Oak Ecosystems Conference Acorn Award
The Garry Oak Ecosystems Recovery Team (GOERT) is an incredible organization that hosts an annual conference which brings together researchers, practitioners, governments, community members and students who are actively involved or interested in restoring Garry Oak ecosystems. Throughout the rest of the year GOERT leads projects and provides resources to gardeners, developers, government, and scientists to help protect and restore ecosystems and species at risk.
This October (2024) was the 16th conference GOERT has hosted. Every year there is an exciting and fun part of the agenda where they present the Golden Acorn Award. The award is to highlight someone who has contributed greatly to Garry Oak Ecosystems, and this year we were excited to hear that Satinflower Nurseries (Kristen and James Miskelly) were the recipients! Such an honour!
